Walking in the forest
Finally our project is a reality since the release of funds by YDAS in January 2009. We all moved to freezing Heybeli then, the architects Stavros Ganotis and Dimitris Spithas together with Alexandra Kyriazopoulou, our general secretary who was supposed to stay one week but hasn't been able to leave the island up to now and who is "supposed" to leave with Iannis Zannos at the end of April, after celebrating Easter on our blooming Halki.
As we watch the fine school-building lighted every night, high up from our window on the hill, we wonder about the surprises, the difficulties, the amount of work that holds for us but also the moral uplift and joy...
On April 8-11 the whole team of architects and engineers comes from Greece (Chrysanthos Kirpotin, Gottfried Schubert, Minos Maistros, Iannis Zannos) to work together with their Turkish "counterpart" Mustafa Pehlivanoğlu - a renowned architect specialised on restoration projects - on the final plans about the revitilization of the building.
By then heathers on the hill of Heybeli will be on full growth..
